San Antonio, A Great Tourist Destination
San Antonio is a great place to visit when you only have a few days of vacation and is located almost directly in the middle of the state just , southwest of Austin. The city is small and many of the sites are in the downtown area. If you want to see historic sites then bus transportation is available to the various missions and other historic buildings. Several are located next door to downtown hotels and are in walking distance.
Downtown you will find unequaled shops and places to visit. Along with major shopping areas, there are also factory sales outlet centers in nearby New Braunfels and San Marcos about 30 minutes driving distancee away. Downtown San Antonio, for example, is popular among transient tourists, but is also home to urbanites who work and live here. If you’re looking to live in a community where restaurants , art galleries and office buildings are all within walking distance, downtown San Antonio could be the perfect living option for you. San Antonio’s downtown is for the most part intact, thanks to passionate residents and city planners, and you will see many beautiful buildings as you explore. One good way to soak it all in while avoiding the crush of tourists, is to start early in the morning.During summertime the temperature hits well into the middle 90′s and on the street can be over 100 so sun screen and a early start are both good ideas.
If more modern attractions interest you then visit the art museums. Sea World and Fiesta Texas are located on the north side of town about 20 minutes from any downtown hotel. Both have a pool area to cool off in as we as rides and other attractions. Schlitterbahn Water park Resort is about 45 minutes north and is one of the largest water attractions in the country. River water feeds many of the rides and tubing the local rivers next to the park is another unique and relaxing experience.
