Things To See & Do In Stratford-upon-Avon

Stratford-upon-Avon is an exquisite market  town within the West Midlands region of England in the British Isles that is incredibly well liked by tourists. In the main Stratford is famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare and even if the vast majority of visitor sights in Stratford-upon-Avon are related to the famous playwright and poett there are many other reasons to take a vacation in town.

Located 147km from London, the capital of England, Stratford-upon-Avon is the finest place to see a Shakespearean play especially in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Even though the town gets busy with tourists it remains a amazing place for a vacation.

Stratford has a huge selection of Jacobean and Elizabethan buildings and in places such as Henley Street and Sheep Street are found those half-timbered black and white dwellings and other structures. Henley Street is best known for being the street where you will see Shakespeare’s Birthplace, however it is also a superb shopping precinct. The oldest house (still lived in) in Stratford is located on Sheep Street. The Shrieves House is believed to be one of the places where Oliver Cromwell lived in prior to the 2nd battle of Worcester but, unfortunately, there is little or no evidence to support the idea.
